Has the actor who plays Simon been in any other films? He's really great and I'd like to see more of his work. So technically sound and captivating. Easy on the eyes too!

Interesting idea and good cinematography but I think the film could have explored more and been executed better. The shots are really good and definitely invoke an older aesthetic that reminded me of films like Clerks, Man Bites Dog, etc. The camera movements are also very smooth and I liked the contrast of black and white and color inside and out of the room. The blinding light of the door opening before closing created this sense of entering another world, like a transitional portal between the outside and inside life. However, with that said, I think the acting and story could have been stronger and maybe even a little longer. The suspense isn’t drawn out long enough for it to be effective and you get the sense that he's a threat too quickly. I think it would have been more effective if it was unclear as to how dangerous his character really was and it would make her feelings towards him more believable. A key component to the suspense and horror is uncertainty and I never felt uncertain. I knew pretty much from the start where this film was going so there was no real surprise. Additionally, I thought the audio was way too clean for being shot on 16mm. It actually took me out of the film because of the juxtaposition between how it looked and what I was hearing. I think the audio should have been grainy and slightly muffled to give it that authentic quality. Other than that, I think it's a decent film that could pave the way for bigger opportunities. I really admire your passion and I think you’re on the right track. Just keep on going.

I don't watch many short films on RUclips, especially thrillers because they always feel like they're made by glorified videographers that have no love for actual filmmaking or storytelling and just want to film pretty images. As soon as I saw that this was shot on 16mm I had to check it out, in the first 3 minutes I knew I was in good hands. I knew that this was made by people who were as passionate about films as I am, the style, the tone, the nostalgic energy, I knew whoever made this film were influenced by the same filmmakers that influenced me such as Hitchcock, Tarantino and Scorsese. Honestly loved this short film, can't imagine how hard it was shooting this on 16mm too so credit to everyone involved. Look forward to watching more of your work and seeing you become a big film director one day.
